afoeifjaoeifaje!

Why is it always when you have a decent, yet still modest, amount of money saved that something goes wrong with your car? I guess it's better than it breaking down when you don't have any money saved though.

My car had been acting funny for a few weeks, but it was mostly right after I would start it in the morning and it would clear up and drive right real quick. Tuesday morning it went kaput. The mechanic was nice enough to take it in that day and today he called to let me know the problem was fixed with a new MAT sensor. But now I'm getting new front brake pads, he said they would be down to the metal soon, even though I haven't noticed any problem with them, so I'm getting my car back tomorrow. It's going to be $700+, agh!

In the meantime I'm driving my mom's car which has bald tires and nearly useless brakes, a great combination.

What No Picture?

No picture to post this time :(

So last semester I had an ex-boyfriend's roommate in one of my classes, this semester I have the ex-boyfriend himself. Not too thrilled about that. I don't believe in coincidences either, by the way. I was kind of surprised he didn't speak to me since the last time we did speak wasn't on bad terms or anything. Now as Amy said I'm going to have to look extra cute for class.

Anyway, continuing from things I was going to post last time: My mom's car has been out of commission and while it's was sitting there waiting to get worked on by a "friend," who it turns out doesn't know how to fix it, a tree limb fell during a storm and completely shattered the back window and put a dent in the roof.

My grandma had a heart cath yesterday, which we thought she didn't need. And she pretty much didn't. She's home now and doing okay.

Eh, that's all I remember from last time.

For the school paper I'm going to be writing a review for either a movie or CD, don't know what yet, need to figure that out. I'm also writing a sidebar on "Plutoed" being chosen as the 2006 word of the year by the American Dialect Society.

Wednesday

My mom and I had made plans to do some Christmas shopping in Destin on Wednesday. Before leaving town we went to Grease Pro where I got my oil changed, it was due. They had coffee in the waiting room.

Coffee?

I was afraid to drink it, no telling how long it had been there. After the oil change and a full tank of gas we were on our way.

We ate at Hard Rock for lunch, where I attempted the Legendary 10oz. Burger.

Big Burger

I think I put a good dent in it.

The aftermath

Then we went next door to Books-a-Million and quickly spent $120. And that is where our luck ended.

We didn't find anything even worth trying at any other stores, but that's nothing compared to the trip home. I had told my mom a little earlier that I thought my car had been acting funny and she noticed it too...while trying to get up to 65 on the highway, my clutch gave out, we were able to roll across 3 lanes an intersection and another road and park at a gas station. There we waited an hour and a half for a tow truck and my sister to pick us up. The whole time my mom is going "At least it's not a big deal like the transmission," and I'm like "trust me, it's a big deal." And I am proved right with $1300 to pay in repairs. Merry Christmas.
