Since all the cool kids are doing it, I felt the need to post about Will's nicknames. The Cool Parents have Cool Baby and Cool Newbie, and NatTheFatRat wrote a babble post about the many nicknames she has for her Henry.
Will has several nicknames as well. Will of course if short for William, but that's the only derivative of William we use. Do not call my kid Billy, or even worse, Willie. Do. Not. His first nickname was baby, I think I use that more when referring to him, like when I told husband today, "baby needs a bath." I still call him "baybah, baybah," a lot. When he's cranky, you're likely to hear me call him "mister" or "mister mister" or " fussy mcfusserson." I also like to call him "baby balooga" in a sing-song way, of course. Then there's "bubs," which is short for "bubbalou." "Bubbalou" is probably the nickname I use most, it occasionally makes me think of Bubbalou's Bodacious BBQ, which I never had the chance to try when I lived in the Orlando area, sad. "Bubs" always, always makes me think of Bubs. Click it, you must! What can I say, Will does have a deep voice.

Can you believe he's 5 months old!?!?!?!
What nicknames do you have for your kids? Or what was your own nickname growing up?
Love reading you articles and of course the pictures are awesome. By the way.buggaboo is what uncle Clyde called Kenneth when he was little. Hunter hurasheo and. Matthew Bartholomew.
ReplyDeleteBe careful with the "baby"!!! We called my son that . . . when he started talking at about 1 it was one of his first words! At two he still referred to himself as "baby". You would say "who's in this picture?", "baby", a stranger at the store would ask, "what's your name?", "baby"! I was afraid he would go to kindergarten and say his name was Baby! He's almost three now and says his name, but we are potty training and the other day I told him "you're a big boy now" and he said, "no, mama, I a baby"!!
ReplyDeleteOh no, Alisa! I bet that's a hard habit to break. Thankfully, we don't use "baby" very often anymore.
