Having a baby changes everything, except...

If you listen to/read the same kinds of things I have been about becoming a new parent, or even if you've just listened in passing, you hear people constantly saying how when they became parents they lost all of their friends who were not parents. People without kids don't want to be around them all the time and don't want to hear you talking about your kids all the time.

Well, this change is not going to happen for us. (You're thinking, "oh you're just being ignorant, why do you think you're special, I haven't had a grown up conversation in 3 years.") Why? Because our friends are having kids too!

Last time I checked, of the people I'm friends with on facebook (and yes, I do know these people), 9 were expecting (by the way, this was really frustrating when I knew I was pregnant but we were waiting to tell anyone while every 5 minutes someone who was not as far along as me was announcing their pregnancy. I'm glad we waited though). Of the members of a small group we were part of last year, I think there are only 2 couples who are not expecting now (something in the water?), not to mention the the small group leaders welcomed their second child soon after the group ended.

So if we look at how many friends are already parents, and how many are expecting, by the end of 2011, most of are friends will be parents. Then, if the announcements keep popping up like they have been, I can replace the "most" in the previous sentence with "all."

We've also talked about doing a small group where most of the members will be parents or new parents, and that way no one is annoyed when the discussion is interrupted by crying for the 5th time.
