I've listened to all the music you recommended, and, briefly, here's a comment and yea or nay for each. First, you should know (if you haven't figured it out already) I'm a glass half empty kind of girl, so of course there are more dislikes than likes. I'm glad to have received such a good response of recommendations and happy to say there was nothing I hated and something I liked about every band I heard.
Here it goes:
Bernard - If I had heard these guys maybe 5 years ago I would have really liked them. Today they sound too much like a lot of other bands.
Aphex Twin - I don't know why I never listened to Aphex Twin before, I like it. The album covers really freak me out though.
Nine Inch Nails (Ghosts) - Like it. Like it. Like it. Sadly only 9 of the 36 tracks are free downloads though.
Hammock - Decent. Nothing new here and almost too mellow.
Eluvium - Quite possibly my favorite of the lot. This is instrumental music I feel like I can really connect with, much like how I feel about Unwed Sailor and Sigur Rós. I can hear the desperation and the hope, I love it.
The Album Leaf - I remember listening to this before actually. I respect it, I like the music, but it's not for me, I just find his voice too dull.
Tycho - Like it, not much else to say.
Machine Drum - Would like it but I find many of the samples used to be really annoying.
The Go! Team - Like the concept, can't stand the rapping vocals.
Mr. Scruff - Mixed feelings here, some songs I listened to on myspace I really like (mostly the ones without vocals) and others I really didn't. Could be an album by album appreciation. I like "Get a Move On," where have I heard it before? Ah, Volvo and Lincoln commercials. Other songs were looped too much.
Caural - Undecided. The songs I heard sounded too similar, needs more variety. Perhaps I need to hear a whole album.
Delarosa & Asora - Pretty much the same feeling as for Caual. I like it, but not something to fall in love with.
Beastie Boys (The Mix Up) - I could only find sample clips to listen to online, so I still want to hear more. It's not what I expected, but I like it.
That's it! Thanks for all of the recommendations, and feel free to send me more anytime.
