Just got back from youth congress yesterday, it's a nation-wide youth retreat for the organization my church is part of. I'm glad I went, but I didn't get from it what I was hoping to. Most of the messages were about witnessing which to me is no good when I am not firm on the doctrine. It was an educational experience though, it's unbelievable to me how ignorant some of the people (not just the youth but the workers) can be about the real world, I know it's sounds horrible, but it kind of makes me appreciate that I was distant from God for a while (also that I had variety in friendships) and don't sound like an idiot when I try to talk about "worldly people".
The trip made me think a lot, I found out some exciting and some strange news about some friends, felt like I'm not doing anything with my life (again), I'm closer to feeling less confused about doctrine, also closer to segregating myself from everyone elses beliefs on it (eh, I don't know), feel more and more strongly that standards are silly, but still will follow them out of respect as long as I attend my current church.
Jonathan comes back tonight, we haven't seen each other in a week.
Hey,
ReplyDeletewhat are your problems with doctrine??? Because I for one, have many many issues concerning doctrine and I kind of feel like I totally do not belong at any church to my knowledge. I think debate and profound thoughts are very important if someone were to place his/her faith in something. My ideas and train of thought is pretty out there and I was just wondering if your way of thinking correlates with mine. So I'd like to know a little more about what you think, for anything else just to maybe sharpen my own beliefs and thoughts.

I don't think doctrine is the most important thing, though I do think it's very useful. Jesus seems to put more emphasis on how we treat the poor, starving, imprisoned, et cetera.
ReplyDeleteI'm talking about plan of salvation, without that, there's no point in anything else.
ReplyDeleteSo what are your thoughts regarding plan of salvation?
ReplyDeleteI'm not talking about my thoughts I'm talking about the salvational doctrine specific of my chosen denomination.
ReplyDeleteThat just gets us back to the don't really feel like talking about it yet part, sorry.
