Baptism, It's Not For Babies

No babies were baptized in the Bible, very true, no sprinkling either.

In the Bible baptism is: 1. For people that understand what it is 2. For the remission of sins 3. Immersion 4. An essential part of salvation.

The plan of salvation is representative of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Death being repentence, burial being baptism, and resurrection being the infilling of the Holy Ghost (which I'll talk about another time).

1. This is explaned through the others.

2. Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Acts 22:16 "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord."

3. Romans 6:4 "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."
Colossians 2:12 "Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead"

Have you ever heard of anyone being buried with just a sprinkle of dirt?

Matthew 3:16 "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:"

How could Jesus come out of the water if He wasn't in it?

4. 1 Peter 3:21 "The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:"

Mark 16:16 "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned."

John 3:5 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

1 John 5:8 "And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one."

Spirit, water, and blood=Holy Ghost, baptism, repentence (grace)=Resurrection, burial, death. All 3 is what it takes, this is what matters.

  1. Thanks, for the input man. It is, however, a little more complicated than that.

  2. Sorry, respectfully it isn't really complicated at all. We are suppose to follow in Jesus (Jeshua's) foot steps, are we not! He was 30 years of age when he was baptized. He did not need to repent in literal; he did it for two reasons, 1. that of for us to be baptized in following in his examples, and 2. in that only that we are all born into sin and imperfection because of the original sin by Adam. The baptizing of babies is ONLY a made up tradition by certain denominations, the same as many other made up rituals and teachings. The longand the short of things is, do we REALLY want to know truths or do we simply want to accept teachings that are put before us.
